This building was built in 1894 and was originally the residence of Dona Carolina Cunha. Sir Robert Ho Tang, a businessman from Hong Kong, bought this building in 1918. After the death of Sir Robert Ho Tang in 1955, according to his will, this building became the property of the Government of Macau and was used as a library.
