Macau Tricycle Rickshaw – pedicab

a great way to get around Macau.
This unusual transport, combining a bicycle design with passenger transportation, has been popular in West and Southeast Asia for several decades. In 1948, pedicabs first appeared in Macau and soon after replaced traditional rickshaws, becoming the most popular way to travel around the city. At that time, there were about seven hundred pedicabs and about a hundred stops in Macau, according to the archives. In 1952, the Macau Pedicab Drivers’ Union was established, which included more than a thousand people.
