Leal Senado Building Macau
Built in 1784, the building served as the place of work of the municipal authorities. It performs this role to this day. The name “Leal Senado” (“Faithful Senate”) is associated with the title given by the Portuguese king in 1654 – “Macau is the city of our Lord, incomparable in loyalty to anyone.” The building is designed in neoclassical style and retains its old walls and original layout, including the garden at the back. Inside the building, on the ground floor, there is a ceremonial hall that leads to an elegant library, repeating the style of the Portuguese Royal Library in Mafra, Portugal.
