An important new metro station has opened in Macau
On December 8, 2023, the Macao LRT (Light Rapid Transit) station, Barra Station, opened in Macau, connecting the Macau Peninsula with the island of Taipa (and through an underground tunnel under the bay). The train runs every 7-10 minutes, from 6.15 am to 11.15 pm. There are no drivers on the Macau light metro.
Thus, the blue branch of the Type is completely over.

Despite the name, you still have to walk 10 minutes from Barra Square to the building with the metro station.
The Macao LRT – Barra Station metro station cost 1.2 billion patacas and was scheduled to open in March 2023. The delivery date was constantly postponed and now, it was handed over on December 8, 2023.
The previous 11 stations cost 10 billion patacas (construction took place from 2012 to 2019).
It has opened – and it is very good!
For me, it has always been a problem to get from Barra Square to the casino area on the island. It’s not realistic to catch a taxi. I left, as a result, almost always on the MT4 bus.
Now you can take the subway!
Take the Barra and drive to Cotai West (Wynn Palace Hotel).
Convenient!
A branch line to the border is currently under construction.Khenchin crossing (the orange branch at the bottom, I’m really looking forward to it. They will be completed at the end of 2024) and several other branches (very slowly).
The Macau Light Metro project is expected to be fully completed by 2028.
