The urban center of Macau and, perhaps, one of the most popular places in the city. In Senado Square, you can admire the architecture of the Portuguese rule period. Most of the facades around the square are made in Western style, and the surface of the square is paved with colored stone mosaics. All this was done by the Portuguese, but it is strictly forbidden to change the appearance of the place: the square is a cultural monument protected by UNESCO.
For many centuries, this square has been the urban center, and to this day it is the most popular venue for social events and celebrations. Behind the Senate building is the temple of Kai Wui Kun Himself, which
recalls the active participation of local Chinese residents in the management of the city’s affairs, and testifies to the successful coexistence of different cultures and peoples in Macau. The square is surrounded by pastel-colored buildings in the neoclassical style, which creates a harmonious atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
